It is a tremendous honour to represent The Kingdom of Denmark in Japan. 

We are living in extremely challenging times, and it is important for Denmark to know that we have a close, trusted, and like-minded partner in Japan – and vice versa. 

The partnership between Denmark and Japan is built on a strong foundation of trust and collaboration. Our diplomatic ties trace back 158 years.

This strong foundation allows us to deepen our cooperation across key areas such as defense, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, robotics, life sciences, green energy, organic food, biosolutions, and scientific research. 

Japan, as one of the world’s largest economies, offers an exciting platform for Danish companies to showcase innovation in renewable energy, advanced technologies, and high-quality products. The EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement further enhances these opportunities, fostering increased trade and collaboration across various sectors.

Denmark is a world leading nation in many areas including wind energy, digitization, quantum technologies, life sciences, gender equality, organic food and food security.

I look forward to working with all regions of Japan, across all sectors and relevant policy areas, alongside the incredibly strong team at the Royal Danish Embassy. I am deeply grateful for the warm reception I have already received from the many high level decision-makers in Japan I have had the pleasure of meeting. Together, we aim to foster even stronger bonds in business, culture, and diplomacy, creating new opportunities for collaboration.

As I return to Japan more than 30 years after I lived in Togoshi-Ginza in Tokyo as a young man, I am excited to represent Denmark in a country that has always held a special place in my heart. I look forward to continuing the work of strengthening our ties, deepening our understanding, and exploring the many ways in which Denmark and Japan can grow together.
